A note from the International Relations Committee

2010 Southeastern World Affairs Institute scheduled for July 30 - August 1.
 
"Global Issues, Local Responses" is the theme of the 2010 Southeastern World Affairs Institute to be held at the YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly, Black Mountain, July 30 - August 1.  The conference is sponsored by the American Freedom Association and has been co-sponsored by the LWVNC for a number of years.  Issues ranging from Rwanda and Africa to immigration to ecological will be addressed by six guest speakers: 
    Geeta Pasi, Director of East African Affairs in the Bureau of African Affairs, Dept. of State, Washington, DC
    Michael Brotchner, Executive Director of Orphans of Rwanda, New York, NY
    Jonathan Elliott, Africa Advocacy Director, Human Rights Watch, Washington, DC
